Tenses

Define:

Tense is the form of the verb which shows the time and state of the action is called tense. 

There are three main kinds of the tense.

1. Present tense

2. Past tense

3. Future tense

* Every tense has sub- four kinds such as

1. Simple

2. continuous

 3. perfect

4. perfect continuous

 There are 12 sub kinds of tenses in English

 Formula of tenses

1 Simple present tense S+ v1 + o
2 Present continuous tense S + am, is ,are + v-ing +o
3 Present perfect tense S + have, has + v3 + o
4 Present perfect continuous tense S+ have, has+ been + v-ing + o
5 Simple past tense S+ v2 + o
6 Past continuous tense S + was, were + v-ing + o
7 Past perfect tense S + had + v3 + o
8 Past perfect continuous tense S+ had + been + v-ing+ o
9 Simple future tense S +shall, will +v1 + o
10 Future continuous tense S + Shall, will + be + v-ing + o
11 Future perfect tense S +shall, will + have +v3 + o
12 Future perfect continuous tense S +shall, will + have + been + ving + o

Present tenses

 Simple Present tense 

I play a cricket.
She reaches the Mumbai station.

Present Continuous tense

I am doing
 I am playing a cricket.
She is reaching the Mumbai station.

Present Perfect tense

I have done
 I have played a cricket.
She has  reached the Mumbai station.

Present Perfect Continuous tense

I have been doing
 I have been playing a cricket.
She has been reaching the Mumbai station.
Past tenses

 Simple Past tense

I did, I did do.
I played a cricket.
She reached the Mumbai station.

Past Continuous tense

I was doing.
I was playing a cricket.
She was reaching the Mumbai station.

Past Perfect tense

I had done
 I had playing a cricket.
She had reached the Mumbai station.

Past Perfect Continuous tense

I had been doing.
I had been  playing a cricket.
She had been  reaching  the Mumbai station.

Future tenses

Simple Future tense

I will do.
 I shall play a cricket.
She will reach the Mumbai station.

Future Continuous tense

I will be doing.
I shall be playing a cricket.
She will be reaching the Mumbai station.

Future Perfect tense

I will have done.
I shall have played a cricket.
She will have reached  the Mumbai station.

Future Perfect Continuous tense

I will have been doing.
I shall have been playing a cricket.
She will have been reaching the Mumbai station.
